In case you haven’t been around the lake recently and have not seen the future home of the Holiday Lake Community Center, we have finally broken ground. Our goal of $100K before we would break ground was reached in the latter part of 2006 and with the wet spring we have had, it delayed our ground breaking even more. Faas Construction of Brooklyn has prepared the building site for the foundation. Arlan Faas has donated all of his time spent on this task. Isn’t it wonderful to see all those loads of dirt gone from their holding area and the building site beginning to take shape?

We have finalized the plans and building specifications. We are currently seeking bids from the surrounding area for building materials. Once we have all the bids in, we will then make a decision as to which way to go with construction. From our meeting with the Poweshiek County Sanitarian and septic system contractors, we have received a design that should meet the expected use of the community center along with a bid.

If you have a desire to get involved with the construction of the Holiday Lake Community Center, it is not too late. We have individuals that have already volunteered their services for plumbing and electrical. This is really appreciated as this will certainly help to keep our costs down. As we progress along, we will most likely need additional volunteers. If you are interested or know of someone who might be, please contact any committee member.

Fundraising Events

Annual Bake Sale was held May 26th - Even without matching funds this year, we were still able to raise $1,070 by selling baked goods, apparel and more. We wish to thank our great Holiday Lake bakers, the workers, and all of you who purchased the goodies for coming through again for us.

Holiday Lake Apparel ‘N More - Have you seen the new screen-print design for the 45th Anniversary of Holiday Lake? If not, you need to check out the new shirts. On the back of them they say "Holiday Lake 45 years of "Something for Everyone". We have them available in tie-dye for youth and adult, as well as solid colors for the more timid adults. Remember that Holiday Lake Apparel ‘N More is available year round at the Maintenance Office during regular business hours. This summer, look for the sign of our mobile shop at our events and when you are out and about. There are plenty of our past designs still available. If you can’t find exactly what you are looking for, we would be happy to help you place your pre-paid order. Items ordered usually arrive within a few weeks. Just call Kim at (641) 522-6082, if you have questions.
